The drug The drug is an anticholinergic, antiparkinsonian drug.
The medicine is used for:
Parkinson’s syndromes, especially muscle stiffness (rigor) and shaking (tremor).
Movement disorders (extrapyramidal symptoms) caused by certain centrally acting drugs (neuroleptics) and drugs with a similar effect, such as tongue, throat and eye spasms (early dyskinesia), sitting restlessness (akathisia) and symptoms similar to Parkinson’s disease (parkinsonoid).
other extrapyramidal movement disorders, movement disorders affecting the whole body (generalized) or individual parts of the body (segmental) (dystonia), particular disorders of the movement processes in the head area (Meige syndrome), eyelid spasm (blepharospasm) or spastic torticollis (spasmodic torticollis).
contraindication
The medicinal product must not be taken/used
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to biperiden hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of the medicine
with untreated glaucoma (narrow-angle glaucoma)
in mechanical constrictions (stenoses) in the gastrointestinal tract
in case of enlargement of the large intestine (megacolon)
with intestinal obstruction (ileus).
Dosage of AKINETON 2 mg tablets
Always take/use the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
This medicine must be dosed individually.
Treatment should start with the lowest dose and then be increased to the dose that is most beneficial to the patient.
Please follow the instructions for use, otherwise the drug will not work properly!
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
Adult:
For the treatment of Parkinson’s syndrome, initially ½ a tablet twice a day (equivalent to 2 mg biperiden hydrochloride/day). The dose can be increased by 2 mg biperiden hydrochloride daily. As a maintenance dose, ½ – 2 tablets (equivalent to 3 – 16 mg biperiden hydrochloride/day) are given 3 to 4 times a day. The maximum daily dose of 16 mg biperiden hydrochloride (= 8 tablets/day) must not be exceeded.
For the treatment of medication-related extrapyramidal symptoms, ½ – 2 tablets (equivalent to 1 – 16 mg biperiden hydrochloride/day) are given 1 to 4 times a day in addition to the neuroleptic, depending on the severity of the symptoms.
Adjustment to the anticholinergic therapy of other extrapyramidal movement disorders takes place slowly, by increasing the starting dose of 2 mg biperiden hydrochloride weekly up to the tolerated maintenance dose, which can also exceed the usual maximum doses for other indications by a multiple.
Children: (from 3 – 15 years):
For the treatment of medication-related extrapyramidal symptoms, children are given ½ – 1 tablet 1 to 3 times a day (corresponding to 1 – 6 mg biperiden hydrochloride/day) in addition to the neuroleptic.

Das Arzneimittel Das Arzneimittelist ein Anticholinergikum, Antiparkinsonmittel.
Das Arzneimittel wird angewendet bei:
Parkinson-Syndromen, insbesondere Muskelsteifigkeit (Rigor) und Zittern (Tremor).
durch bestimmte zentral wirksame Arzneimittel (Neuroleptika) und ähnlich wirkende Arzneimittel bedingte Bewegungsstörungen (extrapyramidale Symptome), wie Zungen-, Schlund- und Blickkrämpfe (Frühdyskinesien), Sitzunruhe (Akathisie) und der Parkinsonkrankheit ähnliche Beschwerden (Parkinsonoid).
andere extrapyramidale Bewegungsstörungen, die den ganzen Körper (generalisierte) bzw. einzelne Körperteile betreffende (segmentale) Bewegungsstörungen (Dystonien), besondere Störungen der Bewegungsabläufe im Kopfbereich (Meige-Syndrom), Lidkrampf (Blepharospasmus) oder spastischer Schiefhals (Torticollis spasmodicus).
Kontraindikation
Das Arzneimittel darf nicht eingenommen/angewendet werden,
wenn Sie überempfindlich (allergisch) gegen Biperidenhydrochlorid oder einen der sonstigen Bestandteile des Arzneimittels sind
bei unbehandeltem grünen Star (Engwinkelglaukom)
bei mechanischen Verengungen (Stenosen) im Magen-Darm-Kanal
bei Erweiterung des Dickdarms (Megakolon)
bei Darmverschluss (Ileus).
Dosierung von AKINETON 2 mg Tabletten
Nehmen/Wenden Sie das Arzneimittel immer genau nach der Anweisung des Arztes ein/an. Bitte fragen Sie bei Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker nach, wenn Sie sich nicht ganz sicher sind.
Dieses Arzneimittel muss individuell dosiert werden.
Die Behandlung sollte mit der niedrigsten Dosis beginnen und dann bis zu der für den Patienten günstigsten Dosis gesteigert werden.
Bitte halten Sie sich an die Anwendungsvorschriften, da das Arzneimittel sonst nicht richtig wirken kann!
Falls vom Arzt nicht anders verordnet, ist die übliche Dosis:
Erwachsene:
Zur Behandlung des Parkinson-Syndroms anfangs 2 mal ½ Tablette täglich (entsprechend 2 mg Biperidenhydrochlorid/Tag). Die Dosis kann täglich um 2 mg Biperidenhydrochlorid erhöht werden. Als Erhaltungsdosis werden 3 bis 4 mal täglich ½ – 2 Tabletten (entsprechend 3 – 16 mg Biperidenhydrochlorid/Tag) gegeben. Die Tageshöchstdosis von 16 mg Biperidenhydrochlorid (= 8 Tabletten/Tag) darf nicht überschritten werden.
Zur Behandlung medikamentös bedingter extrapyramidaler Symptome werden begleitend zum Neuroleptikum 1 bis 4 mal täglich ½ – 2 Tabletten (entsprechend 1 – 16 mg Biperidenhydrochlorid/Tag), je nach Stärke der Symptome, gegeben.
Die Einstellung auf die anticholinerge Therapie anderer extrapyramidaler Bewegungsstörungen erfolgt langsam, durch wöchentliche Steigerung der Ausgangsdosis von 2 mg Biperidenhydrochlorid bis zur tolerierten Erhaltungsdosis, die auch die bei anderen Indikationen üblichen Höchstmengen um ein Mehrfaches übersteigen kann.
Kinder: (von 3 – 15 Jahren):
Zur Behandlung medikamentös bedingter extrapyramidaler Symptome erhalten Kinder begleitend zum Neuroleptikum 1 bis 3 mal täglich ½ – 1 Tablette (entsprechend 1 – 6 mg Biperidenhydrochlorid/Tag).
