indication
The drug is a medication to support the treatment of alcohol withdrawal.
It is used to maintain withdrawal symptoms in patients with alcohol dependence.
Treatment with the drug is indicated only as part of a general therapeutic concept, which also includes concomitant psychotherapeutic and sociotherapeutic measures. Treatment with the drug should begin immediately after detoxification and not stop even in case of relapse.
The drug is not suitable for the treatment of alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
contraindication
The drug should not be taken
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to calcium acamprosate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
while breastfeeding (see section on pregnancy and breastfeeding)

Dosage of Kampral
Always take your medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Unless otherwise prescribed by a physician, the usual dose is:
Patients weighing 60 kg or more are prescribed 6 gastro-resistant tablets per day.
Patients weighing less than 60 kg are prescribed 4 gastro-resistant tablets per day.
Use in children and adolescents
Children should not use the drug, as there is not enough experience to date.

The recommended duration of treatment is 1 year.

If you take more than you should
An overdose of the drug may cause diarrhea or excessively high levels of calcium in the blood. In this case, you must immediately inform the doctor, who will take the necessary measures.
If you forget to take a dose

At a daily dose of 6 gastro-resistant tablets:
2 enteric-coated tablets in the morning, 2 enteric-coated tablets at noon, and 2 enteric-coated tablets in the evening with meals.
At a daily dose of 4 gastro-resistant tablets:
2 enteric-coated tablets in the morning, 1 enteric-coated tablet at noon, and 1 enteric-coated tablet in the evening with meals.
