The preparation is a medicine for the treatment of seizure disorders (epilepsy) from the group of benzodiazepines.
The preparation is indicated primarily as adjunctive therapy or in cases of failure to other drugs for the treatment of most forms of epilepsy, especially absence seizures, including atypical absence seizures, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, and myoclonic and atonic seizures.
In childhood seizures (including West syndrome) and tonic-clonic seizures, the preparation is only indicated as adjunctive therapy or in the absence of response to other drugs.
contraindication
The drug must not be taken
if you are allergic to clonazepam, other benzodiazepines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
if you are dependent on alcohol, drugs or medicines;
with severe pathological muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis);
in coma;
with severe respiratory disorders;
if you have severe liver problems, as benzodiazepines can cause hepatic encephalopathy (a brain disease that starts in the liver).
Dosage of Rivotril
The dosage will need to be adjusted for you personally and will depend on your age, how you respond to the medicine and how well you tolerate it.

Before adding clonazepam to an existing anticonvulsant therapy, it should be considered that the use of multiple anticonvulsants can lead to an increase in side effects.

Das Präparat ist ein Arzneimittel zur Behandlung von Anfallsleiden (Epilepsien) aus der Gruppe der Benzodiazepine.
Das Präparat ist vor allem als Zusatztherapie oder in Fällen von Nichtansprechen auf andere Arzneimittel zur Behandlung der meisten Formen der Epilepsie, insbesondere von Absencen, inklusive atypischen Absencen, Lennox-Gastaut-Syndrom sowie myoklonischen und atonischen Anfällen indiziert.
Bei kindlichen Krampfanfällen (inklusive des West-Syndroms) und tonisch-klonischen Anfällen ist das Präparat ausschließlich als Zusatztherapie oder bei Nichtansprechen auf andere Arzneimittel indiziert.
Kontraindikation
Das Arzneimittel darf nicht eingenommen werden,
wenn Sie allergisch gegen Clonazepam, andere Benzodiazepine oder einen der sonstigen Bestandteile dieses Arzneimittels sind;
wenn Sie abhängig von Alkohol, Drogen oder Arzneimitteln sind;
bei schwerer krankhafter Muskelschwäche (Myasthenia gravis);
bei Koma;
bei schwerer Störung der Atmung;
bei schweren Leberfunktionsstörungen, da Benzodiazepine eine hepatische Enzephalopathie (eine Erkrankung des Gehirns, die von der Leber ausgeht) auslösen können.
Dosierung von Rivotril
Die Dosierung muss für Sie persönlich angepasst werden und ist abhängig von Ihrem Alter sowie davon, wie Sie auf das Arzneimittel ansprechen und wie gut Sie es vertragen.
Nehmen Sie dieses Arzneimittel immer genau nach Absprache mit Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker ein. Fragen Sie bei Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker nach, wenn Sie sich nicht sicher sind!
Vor der Ergänzung einer bestehenden Antikonvulsivum-Therapie mit Clonazepam sollte berücksichtigt werden, dass die Anwendung mehrerer Antikonvulsiva zu einer Zunahme der Nebenwirkungen führen kann.
