Indication:
- Ursodeoxycholic acid, the active ingredient in these capsules, is a natural bile acid. However, it is found in human bile only in small quantities.
- Medicine is administered.
- Dissolve gallstones consisting of cholesterol. Gallstones should not cause shadows on x-rays and should not be larger than 15 mm in diameter. In addition, the gallbladder must function despite gallstones.
- For the treatment of inflammation of the gastric mucosa due to reflux of bile acids (bile reflux gastritis).
- For the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC – a chronic disease of the biliary tract, including liver cirrhosis), in patients without decompensated liver cirrhosis (diffuse chronic liver disease, in which the disease-related decrease in liver performance can no longer be compensated ).
- For the treatment of liver diseases associated with cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis) in children aged 6 to 18 years.
Dosage:
- Always take this medication exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- For dissolving cholesterol stones in the gall bladder
- Approximately 10 mg of ursodeoxycholic acid per kg of body weight (BW) per day, which corresponds to:
- up to 60 kg 2 hard capsules
- 61 – 80 kg 3 Heart hats
- 81 – 100 kg 4 Heart Caps
- over 100 kg 5 hard capsules
- Duration of use
- The duration of dissolution of gallstones is usually 6–24 months. If gallstones have not decreased in size after 12 months, treatment should not be continued.
- The success of treatment should be checked by a doctor every 6 months. During subsequent examinations, attention should also be paid to whether calcification of gallstones has occurred during this time. In this case, your doctor will stop treatment.
- Approximately 10 mg of ursodeoxycholic acid per kg of body weight (BW) per day, which corresponds to:
- For the treatment of biliary reflux gastritis
- Take 1 hard capsule daily in the evening before bed with a small amount of liquid.
- Duration of use
- For the treatment of bile reflux gastritis, capsules should usually be taken for 10–14 days. Your doctor will decide on the duration of use depending on the course of the disease.
