Vancomycin is an antibiotic that belongs to a group of antibiotics called “glycopeptides”. Vancomycin is used to eliminate certain bacteria that cause infections.
Vancomycin is used in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age to treat infections of the mucous membrane of the small and large intestine with damage to the mucous membranes (pseudomembranous colitis) caused by the bacterium Clostridium difficile.
contraindication
Vancomycin must not be taken
if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to vancomycin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Dosing of Vancomycin
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Adults and teenagers (from 12 years):
The recommended dose is 125 mg every 6 hours. In some cases your doctor may decide to give you a higher daily dose of up to 500 mg every 6 hours. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 2 g.
If you have previously had an infection of the lining of the small and large intestine, you may need a different dose and duration of therapy.

The usual duration of therapy is 10 days but may vary depending on the patient’s response to treatment.
If you take more than you should
See a doctor immediately if you take more than the prescribed number of capsules.
If you forget to take a dose
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose, just continue taking the capsules as usual.
If you stop taking it
You must continue treatment with vancomycin as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you stop taking vancomycin before the end of treatment, there may be a risk that you may feel worse again.

Kontraindikation
Vancomycin darf nicht eingenommen werden,
wenn Sie allergisch (überempfindlich) gegen Vancomycin oder einen der sonstigen Bestandteile dieses Arzneimittels sind.
Dosierung von Vancomycin
Nehmen Sie dieses Arzneimittel immer genau nach Anweisung Ihres Arztes oder Apothekers ein. Bitte fragen Sie bei Ihrem Arzt oder Apotheker nach, wenn Sie sich nicht ganz sicher sind.
Erwachsene und Jugendliche (ab 12 Jahren):
